Monday 23 March 2015

So for the past 2 weeks I have been a guniea-pig with this glucose monitoring device in my arm. Initially my endocrinologist wanted to put the casino token sized 'button' into my arm just before my lungaversary but I explained that I had planned to wear a cute dress to my party and couldn't possibly have it in my arm. So, I went back on the Monday and had it inserted.

2nd Lungaversary

Sometimes having a transplant is compared to having a baby. It's a scary process that changes your life for the better. After having a baby/transplant every decision you make is based on what is best for your new lungs/baby. They become more important than you. My lungaversary is definitely more special than my birthday. My birthday celebrates the day I was born but my transplant celebrates the day my life began. That's not to say that I didn't have a life before transplant, I most certainly did and made the most out of everything I could. However, life was hard and having to suffer daily didn't allow the true 'me' to come out. Now, I am who I was always meant to be and I beleive that my new lungs and I were always destined to be togther.

Zomato meet-up at Moyo (Melrose Arch)

Last week Zomato treated me and a few other foodies to a dinner at Moyo in Melrose Arch. I had a lovely time, as usual, and was very impressed in general with Moyo. With all the new and exciting restaurants popping up all the time I think people have forgotten about places like Moyo who really do put out a good spread and are definitey worth visiting!

Life Expectancy

Before my transplant, no one really asked me what my life expectancy was. It was just a socially unacceptable question to ask someone who was dying. My doctors also didn't discuss it with me as we all knew the answer all too well. The answer was "any day".

New hair

For a woman, having nice hair makes you feel great - going to the hairdresser is an experience that we look forward to and it always lifts our spirits.
