Mowana Spa

Another competition I won recently was a "Me Time" Indulge package for 2 at Mowana spa from the Pocelain Rouge blog.

I took along my friend Shani, and we had such a divine afternoon!!

Mowana Spa is set in the tranquil bushveld gardens of the Indaba Hotel  in Fourways, Sandton; the Mowana Spa is a wellness sanctuary which will revive your senses, rejuvenate your body and soothe your soul. The Mowana Spa, which takes its name from the majestic Baobab Tree of African Lore and Legend, offers wellness journeys based on Tribal Massage in keeping with the healing spirit of the “Tree of Life”.

Drawing on the wisdom of Africa, the Mowana Spa Baobab Signature Product Range harnesses the natural moisturising properties of the Baobab Kernel which produces a rich, golden oil used for centuries by African Women to protect their beautiful skins against the harsh African Sun.

The MOWANA SPA - 15km’s from Sandton … A MILLION MILES AWAY !

We started off our experience by getting into our gowns and flip flip flops which had already been put into lockers allocated to us. I had sent in sizes before hand so everything fitted perfectly and we were dressed and ready to be pampered.

First up on our agenda was a full body massage with the option of using rungu, calabash or hot stones to add to the soothing experience of the massage. Both Shani and I chose to use hot stones as we wanted a more gentle massage as opposed to the deeper tissue massage that the other two choices would have given us.

Usually at beauty salons they have soothing music playing in the background but at Mowana the natural surroundings provides an organic sound of water flowing and birds tweeting amongst the trees. It's a far more soothing atmoshpere than any city bound spa could offer.

The massage felt great and Shani nearly fell asleep during hers! It was actually Shani's first massage EVER believe it or not, so I was eager to hear what she thought about it. She said she felt so relaxed and even though her therapist was a bit hard at times - her muscles felt a lot less tense. It's important to note that if your therapist is massaging you too hard, you MUST say something as you will feel very sore the next day and it just ruins the experience.

Next on our pamper agenda was a foot and lower leg massage. We were scrubed, rubbed and oiled to the max, which left our feet and legs feeling super soft and relaxed. The scrub was especially nice seeing that we are coming out of winter and have to make sure our skin is properly exfoliated and moisturised so that it looks great in those sexy summer dresses!

With our pampering complete we then sat down to indulge in some coffee and an assortment of cakes and afternoon treats. The buffet was slightly limited in choice but with tea sandwiches, croissants, muffins and about 3 different cakes - we made do and were sufficiently fed.

Two and a half hours had elapsed but we wanted more time at the spa so we took our complimentary african liquer and chocolate down to the pool area to enjoy under some cosy blankets. We spent another hour or so here, chatting and just enjoyed being outdoors (and taking #SundaySpaSelfies).

Finally it was time for us to depart so we headed back to the locker rooms to get dressed and ready to leave the oasis we had enjoyed so much. On the way out we stopped at the little shop which sells MatsiMela premier body care range which is associated with Mowana.

The products are inspired by mother-nature and the fine botanical ingredients are indigenous to Africa. MatsiMela is an indigenous word meaning “roots” and originates from the Sotho African Language.

Matsimela Product Ranges available at Mowana Spa include:
Marula Nut Range
Rooibos and Honey Range
Sandalwood Range
Ginger & Lime Range
Litchi & Rose Range
Red Berry Range

Thank-you so much to Sash from Porcelain Rouge who ran the competition on her blog - I'm so glad I won!! Also thank-you to my friend Shani for being my +1 and making the afternoon that much more special!

Last but not least - a hige thank-you to Mowana Spa for looking after us so well and giving us both an unforgettably special afternoon. They also gave us each some vouvhers which we will most definitely be redeeming upon our next visit.

See you again soon Mowana!

  5. It is one of the trending ones followed after eyebrows. This requires repeating of the waxing process in a proper interval and the process helps in removing excess amount of hair from the chest. Wax center in Manhattan

  6. Looks great! I think that I could like this service too. It seems to be truly fascinating to use some of the modern skin care products.
